While investigating the water crisis in Haiti After the terrible January 2010 earthquake engineering contacts at Washington University introduced Shoeman Water Projects to EDGE Outreach. In 2010 Shoeman Water Projects partnered with EDGE Outreach as their main water delivery partner. EDGE Outreach trains individuals and organizations to provide safe drinking water to people in developing countries. Year-round training includes community water assessment, water treatment, health education, sanitation, and hand pump repair. Shoeman Water Projects exports shoes to distributors in South America, Haiti and Kenya. Shoe resale builds the local developing economy with retail businesses and affordable shoes for pennies on the dollar or barter.
